We are sad to report that Robert Jones passed away, peacefully at home on Friday October 25th.
Robert was a stalwart member of Cheadle Hulme Bridge Club and contributed to the running and success of the club over many years including a spell as chairman, and with Joyce organised the bridge and quiz for Xmas parties. He won several of the club competitions, with Joyce and others, as evidenced on the Honours’ Boards.
Robert played in the League, often in division 1 and the Cup – winning it one year. Also, he participated in MCBA events to include the Gazette Cup and the Manchester Congress, and with Joyce in the Northern Bridge League.
Away from bridge, and his successful career in banking, Robert was a family man, and a magistrate for many years. He travelled widely with Joyce - in recent years mainly to competitive bridge holidays nearer to home, the last one being only this month when they won several of the events being played.
Robert will be missed for his participation, his friendly and courteous manner at all times and his integrity. We send our condolences from all the club members to Joyce and family.
